Finding peace in a fragmented world

ZEN HORSE RETREATS
Live and learn through the herd.
A Zen Horse retreat is a powerful, life-changing experience,
based on the knowledge gained throughout 17 years
of award-winning equine-assisted psychotherapy.
Through insight that cannot be learned through words,
we experience a journey through mind, body and soul,
guided by the wisdom of the herd, ancient and knowing.
We embrace horses' true purpose: that of guide, companion,
healer and teacher in a world that needs
them in this role now more than ever.
"Our life is changed; their coming our beginning." - Edwin Muir
About Zen Horse

Our Mission
Zen Horse is dedicated to helping individuals reconnect with their true selves. Our herd is the largest therapy herd in the UK, consisting of rescued horses that are based at the registered charity and sanctuary Hay Farm Therapy Centre, on the Staffordshire-Shropshire border.
The retreats are based here, in the in the tranquility of nature in the fields of an ancient farm, once the Forest of Morfe. This private place is soothing, protected and safe. It is my home, and looked after me when I needed sanctuary after much turmoil in my life. I have learned here, providing equine-assisted therapy for 9 years, working with many organisations and individuals, transforming lives where other methods have been unsuccessful.
Zen Horse came about from being guided by horses. I listened to them in their behaviour and what they were offering clients, and moved away from being overly human-oriented in the therapy methods I was using. This led me to working more with energy and meditation, as horses do, which lends itself well to deeply spiritual experiences and retreats.
Zen Horse was then launched at the Soul Revolution Festival at Weston Park in 2025. I decided that because horses were the greatest healers and had a direct line to the transpersonal, they would be more than suitable in the healing field of the festival. It was a great risk: six horses that had never travelled or left the farm were chosen to attend a festival with thousands of people.
I had no idea if this would work out.
...But it did and they were magical. Offering really deep connection and peace, they settled easily and stood by the trees where they found and created a serene environment. We attended again this year and had the same results. I decided to offer retreats, so that I might enable people to more deeply explore the findings and feelings they had there.
Please join us and our community. We have so much to share with you!
